Like many parents, I found the task of finding the right nursery for my firstborn daunting. The first nursery I visited made an impression on me because it was visible in every corner of it that its aim was to keep children carefree and happy, while providing them with the best possible opportunities to learn about the world. Having met Miss Petra, who was in charge of that nursery at the time, I became aware that it was her vision and the effort she devoted to putting it into practice that largely contributed to the nurturing environment in the nursery.
I could not believe my luck when I found out that she was to open the nursery at the Lakes at the same time as we were moving there. My son, Andrew, was two and a half years old at the time took approximately the same time in months to stop crying every time I was leaving him at the nursery. Many parents would have possibly given up, thinking it may be better to wait a while until the child is ready. I had no doubts that Andrew was ready and also knew that he enjoyed being there, because he always spoke about the things he was doing at the nursery with a lot of enthusiasm. It was thanks to the support of the nursery staff that persevered and put up with his tears for such a long time. Andrew is now four and a half years old and has started school.
I have a strong conviction that the two years he spent at Children’s Oasis prepared him well for school life. I am also convinced that I made the right choice for my daughter, Katarina. She had only just turned one when she joined the Dolphins Class, but only took a couple of weeks to get accustomed to the new surroundings. She came to love it so much that she would cry everytime we passed the nursery without stopping to go there. She now loves it so much that on most days she does not want to leave. In fact, on one occasion she hung onto the door handles at the nursery entrance refusing to let go and be taken home. If there was a camera available at the time we could have shot possibly the best advertisement Children’s Oasis can have! However, word of mouth will suffice.
